We at Pine Grove believe that it is never too early for discipleship. It is our aim to share the Gospel of Jesus with every child, no matter how young! In our Nursery Buddy ministry, infants through children age two, are lovingly cared for during the church service. Our nursery is stocked with Gospel centered materials so volunteers can show Jesus to our youngest through play, song, Bible Stories, in a gentle, caring and safe environment. If you are more comfortable staying with your child in the nursery, you are welcome!
Regular Season
(Labor Day - Memorial Day)
We look forward to meeting you and your precious little one! A volunteer and helper will be waiting to help you in the church nursery in the lower level of the sanctuary. Feel free to stay or leave as you feel comfortable. We’re here to serve you!
Summer Season
(Memorial Day - Labor Day)
During the summer, when our congregation worships in the tent, a registration table is set up in the lower parking lot (sanctuary basement). Here, you can register your child with a numbered name tag and receive a matching keychain. This system helps ensure children leave with the correct person amidst the influx of visitors. After the service, a volunteer will collect the keychain and bring your child to you. If your child needs you during the service, their number will appear on a monitor at the front of the tent.
Pine Groovy Kids
Our goal for children’s ministry here at Pine Grove is rooted in the commission given to us in Jesus’ words. We read “Let the children come to me,” as a command to use the gifts God has given us as staff and volunteers to seize every opportunity to invite our covenant children and all others that enter our doors into a real relationship with the Savior, and also to equip their parents and the church to do the same.
We heed the words, “and do not hinder them,” as an imperative to guard children against any physical or spiritual harm to the best of our God given ability, by enacting and following safety protocols during times of ministry, when selecting volunteers and also through meticulous consideration of all curriculum, ensuring that it is biblically accurate and in line with the truth of the Gospel.
Finally, as Jesus said, “the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” He spoke to the beautiful example that children set for us, in their willingness to accept grace, their open hearts, their posture of dependency and their immeasurable value and preciousness. We seek to cultivate these beautiful attributes and lead them to fix their eyes solely on Jesus as they learn to take steps towards maturity through repentance and faith.
We hope to see your child this Sunday!
In His love, Hannah Scripps Children’s Ministry Director
Summer Season
( Memorial Day - Labor Day)
Our summer season is so exciting! We have so many friends and family join us for worship! With our additional numbers during this season, we ask that you sign your child in before the service by the door of the sanctuary’s basement (lower parking lot). Our registration opens at 9:45am.
Your child will receive a name tag and you’ll receive a keychain with a corresponding number. We use this system to ensure that each child leaves with who they came with. If your child needs you during the service, we have a monitor in the tent that will flash your child’s number to let you know.
What to Expect
It can be overwhelming for kids when they visit a church for the first time, but rest assured, our volunteers and regular attendees will do everything in our power to make your child feel right at home in our Father’s house. We keep a regular routine so kids can relax and know what to expect each week!
Kids are dismissed during the service for our children’s worship time. They follow the teacher and helper out of the sanctuary and into our PGKids classroom in the church basement.
We spend a moment talking about our week, introducing ourselves to new visitors! Depending on the time of year, we may work on memorizing scripture, catechism or a song!
We pray together! Kids are invited to pray out loud as they feel led, but are never forced.
We introduce our Bible story video and watch it together. We use The Gospel Project for our curriculum. We believe that every story in the Bible “whispers the name of Jesus” and reflects the great story of God’s amazing grace for us! We also have a popcorn snack! (Please let us know if your child has any allergies or feeding concerns and we’ll be happy to accommodate your child’s needs!)
We provide worksheets and coloring sheets that reinforce the story we discussed! This is an opportunity to dig deeper into scripture or discuss how these stories apply to our lives today. (Table work is gently encouraged but never required.)
After our table work, and if time allows, we enjoy fellowshipping together with fun activity centers, including Legos, Bible study games and puzzles, outreach activities, and more! We always try to work in a worship dance party too!
We hope that you join us this Sunday! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. hscripps07@gmail.com. It’s our joy and privilege to serve your child in the name of Jesus! Follow us on Facebook: PGKids
45’ers
We love our fourth and fifth graders! This age group loves to ask BIG questions!
During the final song of the service at Pine Grove, our 45’ers are dismissed to follow their teachers down to the basement of the sanctuary. These classes are all about growing in our faith and understanding in a deeper way, God’s redemptive work in the hearts and lives of His people. In this biblically grounded two-year class, students will learn the basics of reformed doctrine.
Each session lasts for 30-45 minutes, and the kids are given take-home papers that serve not only as reinforcement for the lessons, but also as fantastic conversation starters at home.
